Art Bash Project
Every year AAF sponsors a live auction event called Art Bash, where local agencies and design firms create original artwork to auction off. The event raises money for minority students seeking degrees in advertising-related fields. For the 2012 event, I was part of a three-man team that designed a painting that could actually play music (event theme was “Seattle Sound”). Not unlike old phonographs, we fastened a large cone to the canvas with a needle on the end and then bolted a real record to the canvas. The result was a totally interactive canvas that could play music by turning the record in place. Below are pictures of us building the canvas. To see the final piece in action, take a look at this companion video we made: http://vimeo.com/70352037.
